About Us
Udder Angels Learning Center has been providing exceptional childcare and early childhood education to families in Alexandria, Indiana, since 1998. Founded by owner and director Tammy Carney, Udder Angels began as a licensed in-home daycare with a simple but meaningful mission: to provide children with more than just supervision. After starting her own family, Tammy left a career in the medical field to care for children in a way that nurtured their growth, learning, and development. What started in her bovine-themed kitchen, inspiring the unique name "Udder Angels," quickly grew into a respected childcare program known for its dedication to children and families.
Over the years, Udder Angels has expanded from a small in-home daycare to a nationally recognized childcare center serving children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Through hard work, continuous improvement, and a commitment to excellence, Tammy and her dedicated staff earned national accreditation through NAEYC and achieved a Four Star rating through Indiana's Paths to Quality program. Today, Udder Angels continues to be a trusted resource for families seeking high-quality early childhood education in a safe, caring, and supportive environment.
At Udder Angels, we believe the first five years of a child's life provide incredible opportunities for learning and growth. Our certified teachers create nurturing relationships and engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences that support each child's emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and language development. We recognize that every child is unique, filled with potential and promise, and we strive to help them build the skills and confidence they need for future success.
A cornerstone of our program is Conscious Discipline, a relationship-based approach that helps children develop emotional awareness, self-regulation, problem-solving abilities, and positive social skills. Rather than simply managing behavior, our teachers focus on understanding the needs behind a child's actions and guiding them through challenging situations with empathy and respect. Through meaningful interactions and intentional teaching, children learn how to navigate emotions, build strong relationships, and become confident learners.
